Hand crafted on the Mediterranean coast.
INSPIRED BY THE RAW BEAUTY OF ROCK FORMATIONS.
Functional and decorative vessels created to elevate your daily routines.
Maya Carves was born from love for mountains, rocky landscapes and the raw beauty of nature.
All stoneware pieces are made entirely by hand. When looking close you will be able to observe and enjoy charming irregularities in each piece.
Inspired by traditional Japanese yunomi and chawan teaware, some vessels have been made from a solid block of clay. Giving them their initial form, they are then hollowed out, hand trimmed and textured to achieve an aesthetic that echoes the raw beauty of rock formations.
All of the ceramic functional and decorative wares are hand built, using different techniques like pinching, coil building slab building and kurinuki.
I create my ceramic pieces with an artistic vision, rooted in tradition but twisted with a modern edge. Maya Carves promotes handcrafted ceramics that blend function with art, celebrating the beauty of everyday objects through small-batch, sustainably made designs. Focused on one-of-a-kind items with a transparent production process and sustainable practices to oppose mass-produced ceramics, creating exclusivity and a sense of connection with the make
Nice to meet you.
I'm Maya, the artist behind Maya Carves.
Born by the Black sea and later enchanted by the mountains, I draw my inspiration from my love for the outdoors, the outdoors culture and my passion for rock climbing.
Aftercare
All vessels are food and dish washer safe.
But to ensure the long life of your one of a kind vessel, I recommend washing it by hand and with care. Regular use in the dishwasher may shorten its life. Microwaves can cause damage to your ceramic pieces.
Keep in mind that strong coloured liquids or foods such as coffee and tea can stain the more light coloured vessels overtime.
Enjoy.
